Abstract:   (12 Views)
The splenic artery typically arises from the celiac trunk but this report describes a rare variation of splenic artery. This report describes a 60-year-old male cadaver at the Islamic Azad University of Bojnurd Branch, that found the splenic artery originates directly from the anterior aspect of the abdominal aorta, immediately superior to the superior mesenteric artery. This artery followed a tortuous course toward the spleen hilum. The direct origin of the splenic artery from the abdominal aorta is a rare but clinically relevant anatomical variation. Knowledge of this variant is essential for surgeons and radiologists to prevent inadvertent injury during upper abdominal procedures. Our findings highlight the importance of meticulous anatomical observation and preoperative imaging to identify vascular anomalies in the clinical setting.
